The official Ice Cleanup Day 2011 was cancelled by the LSIA due to conditions.
Several individuals including the Boy Scouts from Orono, MN (Trinity #206) were able to get out on the ice performing cleanup duties, we thank everyone for their efforts!

Ick! Who would leave all this stuff on the ice!
Conditions were right so these two decided it was time to go out and cleanup the ice on their own. With the snow melted off enough so the trash would be easy to find they struck out after school on St. Patricks Day with bags and a sled. Two bags of garbage and a sled full of wood pieces were collected by Jordan and Derek on one small area of lake Sarah's east bay March 17, 2011. All concerned lake neighbors are encouraged to work the areas off their shorelines to remove as much junk as possible before ice out. Along with the usual paper, cigarette butts, bottles & cans, plastic bags, fish line and bobbers, the kids great finds included an almost new bungee cord and an aquarium fish net!
Thanks kids!

back story - Each year on the first Saturday following the ice shelter removal deadline, Volunteers comb the lake ice for trash and discarded materials before the ice melts and deposits the garbage into our lake. Plan on spending a few hours with us that day - every little bit helps! Thank you to all the folks who volunteer their time each year!
